What do you teach? 

I currently teach only elective classes. I have taught every subject offered. I have also taught at every level of education, elementary, junior high, high school, community college, and university.
 

How long have you been teaching those subjects? 

I have been teaching since 1971.

Why did you choose this job/career? 

I grew up in a family of educators. I completed my degree in education and taught for a few years. My first experiences in teaching weren't very positive.  I left teaching and tried several other careers, but in each of them I found myself teaching regardless of the profession. After about 10 years of bouncing from one career to another I returned to teaching and haven't looked back.
 

What are your thoughts about Pima Vocational High School? 

I love the atmosphere. It is very open and welcoming to both students and staff.  I like the fact that students, no matter what their background, have an opportunity to wipe the slate clean and start over. I like the way PVHS "empowers" students. There are many choices that students have to pursue their own goals. The staff is here to assist EVERY student in achieving their own personal goals.

What are your thoughts about the students attending P.V.H.S.?   

The students at PVHS are a lot like me. They challenge almost everything. They are rebels with a cause. When you treat them with respect and dignity, they most often return that respect. 
 

How do you feel about the vocational training programs?  

I think the vocational training programs are excellent. As a staff we need to continue to improve them and increase the number of options we can offer students. The more opportunities the students are exposed to the more informed their decisions can be.  

What do you encourage in the students? 

I encourage students to become more actively involved in their own education and career choices. I want them to be good consumers of information, make independent decisions, learn from their mistakes, and stay focused on their own personal goals. As long as they are headed in a positive direction they will get all the encouragement they need.

What are your hopes for the school and students in the future? 

My hope for PVHS and the students is that we continue to grow and create a positive educational environment for students.

Any other comments?

I am relatively new to PVHS. I hope that I can contribute to the continued growth and development of the school. I like the TEAM atmosphere.
